Call for nominations and applications for SAA Awards and Scholarships

Please submit your nominations and applications for the following Society of American Archivists Awards and Scholarships. Submission deadline for all is February 28th, 2015.

2015 SAA Waldo Gifford Leland Award

Have you read a great new book about archives? Seen an exceptional new finding aid? Encountered a new documentary publication that is head and shoulders above the rest? Has a new web publication really stood out to you? If you have, please consider nominating it for the Society of American Archivists Waldo Gifford Leland Award.

2015 Sister M. Claude Lane, O.P., Memorial Award.

This award recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the field of religious archives. Criteria for nomination include:

  • Involvement and work in the Archivists of Religious Collections Section (ARCS) of the Society of American Archivists.
  • Contributions to archival literature that relates to religious archives.
  • Participation and leadership in religious archives organizations.
  • Evidence of leadership in specific religious archives

2015 Harold T. Pinkett Minority Student Award

The Pinkett Award recognizes and acknowledges minority graduate students, such as those of African, Asian, Latino or Native American descent, who, through scholastic and personal achievement, manifest an interest in becoming professional archivists and active members of the Society of American Archivists. The Pinkett is awarded to minority students, with preference given to full-time students possessing a minimum scholastic grade point average of 3.5 while enrolled in a graduate program focusing on archival management during the academic year proceeding the date on which the award is given. 2015  Josephine Forman Scholarship

The Josephine Forman Scholarship provides financial support to minority students pursuing graduate education in archival science, encourages students to pursue a career as an archivist, and promotes the diversification of the American archives profession. The scholarship is given to applicants who demonstrate excellent potential for scholastic and personal achievement and who manifest a commitment both to the archives profession and to advancing diversity concerns within it. The applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.

  • The applicant must be of American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, or Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander descent.
  • The applicant must be currently enrolled in a graduate program or a multi-course program in archival administration, or have applied to such a program for the next academic year.
  • The applicant shall have completed no more than half of the credit requirements toward her/his graduate degree at the time of the award (i.e., June 1).
  • The applicant must be enrolled in a graduate program and begin school no later than September 1or the fall semester/quarter immediately following the award.
  • Applicants may have full-time or part-time status.
