The Ballard Historical Society (www.ballardhistory.org) is seeking a part-time Volunteer Archives Assistant to collaborate with the Archives Chair on various upcoming projects.
- Digitization – scanning photo collection at high-resolution for digital archive creation
- Accessioning donated items
- Cataloging various items using Past Perfect Museum software
- Preparing and editing metadata for collaborative projects with partner institutions
The estimated time commitment is 10-15 hours per month. The Archives Chair is available to work only on the first and third Saturday of every month and initial training will be performed on those days. Arrangements can be made for an alternate work schedule when training is completed.
The ideal candidate will be a current student in an MLIS or archives related program, be interested in or live in the Ballard neighborhood, and/or be a professional archivist or librarian with spare time who wants to get involved in the community.
