The Museum of Flight Archives is seeking a volunteer to assist with a project involving the collections management database to tackle a backlog of updates in preparation for migration to a new software program. This position would require a volunteer to work on-site under the supervision of the archivist for a minimum of 6 hours per week between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The volunteer will work to verify and correct existing subject heading records using both local lists and industry-specific controlled vocabularies as well as update and create scope notes. If time allows, the volunteer may also perform quality control checks of accession records, including evaluating condition of archival material and confirming storage locations.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will be experienced in using Microsoft Excel, have the ability to perform extensive data entry and sit at a computer for long periods of time, possess excellent writing and editing skills, have knowledge of subject cataloging, have knowledge of archives/special collections, and be a current student of or recent graduate from an MLIS/MLS, museum, or archival studies graduate program.
The ideal candidate will also have experience with Archivists’ Toolkit or ArchivesSpace software programs, familiarity with DACS and MARC Bibliographic Formats and Standards, experience with LCSH subject cataloging, and a general knowledge of aviation history.
