Here’s an opportunity to help build a online collection of Seattle theatrical materials!
Local repositories are invited to contribute content to the Early Seattle Theatre History Project (ESTHP), a newly launched website partially funded by 4Culture, which documents the history of theatrical activity in Seattle from 1851 to 1920. You can access the site at: http://www.seattletheatrehistory.org.
ESTHP currently includes 690 photographs, 150 newspaper articles and over 75 theatre programs. In addition, the site features an interactive timeline with over 70 entries and an interactive map. ESTHP’s Drupal content management platform also supports a rich discovery experience for users by linking related content about people, productions and theaters.
New content and features will be added to ESTHP on an ongoing basis. The goal is to create a comprehensive resource on the early history of theatre in Seattle that students, teachers, theatre historians and the general public will find informative and engaging. All local repositories that hold relevant items, such as photos, playbills, posters, and theatre programs, are encouraged to consider participating in the project. Ann Ferguson, ESTHP Director, is happy to answer any questions about the site and the process for contributing content. You can contact her at: ferguson.ann@gmail.com
