As a new member to SeArch and to the Seattle area, I’m interested in engaging with my new peers.

I have worked at the Museum of Flight for a year now, prior to that I spent 4 years as support staff at an academic archive. I have an MLIS with a concentration in Archives.

Jenn Parent, The Museum of Flight, Reference Archivist

Headshot of Jenn Parent

I am interested in being on the steering committee because I’d like to give back to the profession and to SeArch.

I’ve been an archivist with The Museum of Flight since July 2017; starting as the Processing Archivist and then, in December 2017, becoming the Reference Archivist. My priority is to answer archival reference questions and fulfill reproduction requests. I also oversee two volunteers, assist on legacy record clean-up, and process, including writing finding aids, when I have time.

Ryan Anthony Donaldson, Heritage and Archives Consultant

Headshot of Ryan Anthony Donaldson

The Statement of Purpose for the Seattle Area Archivists aligns with my own goals & objectives. It is essential for us to continue to raise awareness of the diverse range of local archives in all sectors, and what they have to offer, whether for the public or to each other. If elected to the Steering Committee, I would focus on additional ways the Seattle Area Archivists can collaborate with local organizations, as well as develop future programming based on what members are seeking. Thank you.

For over 10 years, I worked as corporate archivist for The Durst Organization, an industry-leading multi-generation real estate developer with a 15 million sq. ft. mixed-use portfolio. In addition, I served on the Archivists Round Table of Metropolitan New York, Inc. (A.R.T.) Board, including as President. I’m also active with the Society of American Archivists, recently completing a term of service with the Business Archives Section Steering Committee.

SeArch has been an incredible resource to me as a burgeoning professional. SeArch has kept me abreast of the job market, kept me informed on exciting and interesting archives-related events, and supported my organization when we’ve put on our own events. As part of the Steering Committee, I would leverage my strong outreach, networking, and marketing skills towards making sure this organization can continue to be an invaluable resource for our community.

I’ve been working for the past year and a half as the Assistant Audiovisual Archivist at Moving Image Preservation of Puget Sound, where I help local LAMs deal with the defunct AV formats in their collections. Before that, I worked on processing film and video collections at the University of Washington’s Film Archive. I’ve also worked in other archive environments doing digitization, metadata, and developing workflows for dealing with born digital objects. Before coming to UW for my MLIS, I worked at the Public Library of Cincinnati, in the Genealogy and Local History department!

Karen Bean, The Museum of Flight, Digitization Specialist II

I’m interested in doing more for the archives community in Seattle. I really appreciate what SeArch does for local archivists. I’d like to help keep this community strong and working together.

I currently have worked for 2.5 years at the Museum of Flight Collection department digitizing our collections for internet access. I previously spent 11 years working in the photo archives and as a photographer at the Field Museum in Chicago. I ran the Field Museum photo archives social media Tumblr page and currently run the Museum of Flight social media Instagram page.
