SeaAA’s Future — Happy Hour

The Seattle Area Archivists asks you to please attend a special topic Happy Hour at 6 PM on March 8th at the Elysian Tangletown pub in Wallingford.
The Steering Committee would like to discuss the future of SeaAA and we need to hear input from our membership. SeaAA has been a positive presence in the Seattle archival community for more than 30 years, however, we have recently been unsuccessful in recruiting new officers to serve on the Steering Committee. We have been operating with only three members for almost a year now (there are five established positions) and the current officers’ terms all expire at the end of June 2017. Please come and bring your energy and ideas to discuss how SeaAA might continue. The organization needs guidance and leadership from within its membership to continue to operate successfully. If we are unable to find at least 3 new officers, ideally 5 to return to the norm, SeaAA will unfortunately be forced to disincorporate at the end of the current officers’ terms. We hope to see many of you at this special happy hour – the first round is on SeaAA, so please join us!

Meet for Happy Hour on July 11th

Seattle Area Archivists go to Capitol Hill this month! Meet with your colleagues at Capitol Cider, 818 E. Pike St. at 6 PM on Monday, July 11th. We’ll be in the downstairs game room. Parking on Capitol Hill is extremely limited, as usual. Transit is a better option, as light rail, streetcar, and Metro bus routes 10, 11, 49, and others all stop close by.

Hope to see many of you there!

SeaAA meets next Wednesday, May 25th

Please join the Seattle Area Archivists for our next General Meeting! Our host is Traci Timmons, Librarian at the Seattle Art Museum. We’ll meet from 3:00PM -4:30PM in the Dorothy Stimson Bullitt Library, which is inside the museum, located at 100 University Street. There will be a short business meeting, then Traci Timmons will conduct a guided tour of her library. We hope to see you all there!

The Unconference is on January 8th

Seattle Area Archivists presents:

At a Crossroads: Professionals behind Libraries, Museums, and Archives.
This ‘unconference’ seeks to explore both the intersections between archivists, librarians, and museum workers and the directions we are going in as professionals in our fields. What do we have in common? How do we ensure that our labor is acknowledged?

All librarians, archivists, museum workers, and students are welcome. For updates please return to this website.

A suggested reading list will be posted and sent to attendees in advance of the event. Beverages and light hors d’oeuvres will be provided.
