Digital Archives Specialist (DAS) Bootcamp
Save the Date: Society of American Archivists Digital Archives Specialist Certificate “Bootcamp” Coming to UW Libraries in June 2018!
The Labor Archives of Washington, UW Libraries Special Collections is partnering with the Society of American Archivists and Seattle Area Archivists to offer significant portions of the Digital Archives Specialist (DAS) certificate program at the University of Washington Libraries during the week of June 11-15, 2018 at the University of Washington Libraries!

- The courses can be taken individually or as part of a program for the DAS certificate.
- Enrollment does not require membership in the Society of American Archivists.
- There is an enrollment cap of about 35 people per class

2018 Western Archives Institute
The 32nd annual Western Archives Institute (WAI) will be held at San Diego State University from June 10–22, 2018. WAI is an intensive, two-week program that provides integrated instruction in basic archival practices to individuals with a variety of backgrounds, including those whose jobs require a fundamental understanding of archival skills, but who have little or no previous archives education; those who have expanding responsibility for archival materials; those who are practicing archivists but have not received formal instruction; and those who demonstrate a commitment to an archival career.
SAA/SeArch Co-hosted Workshop
We are happy to report that we have at last nailed down a date for the Society of American Archivists course “Teaching with Primary Sources” here in Seattle!
On Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 9 am to 5 pm at the John Stanford Center for Educational Excellence (Seattle Public Schools), SAA and SeArch will co-host the course “Teaching with Primary Sources: How to Design for Active Learning.” This course is part of SAA’s Foundational program and offers continuing education credits upon completion. For more information on the course, see the SAA website.

Archie Motley Scholarship
The Midwest Archives Conference is soliciting applications for the 2017 Archie Motley Memorial Scholarship for Minority Students. The scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance to minority students pursuing graduate education in archival administration and to encourage ethnic diversification of the MAC membership and of the archival profession as a whole. Two $750 scholarships, accompanied by one-year memberships to MAC, will be awarded.
